Therapy with Adults

During our sessions you'll dig into what makes you tick, what you value, what you hope and long for, what you've been afraid to reach for, and what you've been settling for instead.  If you need help but don't know what questions to ask, that's okay! You don't have to know exactly what's wrong or what you want. Finding that is part of the process! While the goal of therapy is to enhance a person’s well-being and emotional health, it often involves discussing difficult aspects of one’s life. Making changes, taking on new perspectives, and talking about sensitive issues can be difficult. I believe you will find that I provide a nurturing, warm space where you can start unpacking, discovering, and playing with different facets of you; your relationship to yourself, and your relationships with friends, family members (children, spouses!), romantic partners, and work life, so that you can be freed up to live a fuller life. Psychotherapy is often experienced as a challenging yet rewarding process that can help to heal, recover, sort through, reconnect, rejuvenate, strengthen, or entirely change aspects that get in the way of  being your most authentic self.

While we all need to have some self-preservation in the real world, the wider the gap is between who we truly are (and how we truly feel) from what we show others, what others expect us to be, and even our own sometimes unrealistic expectations of ourselves - can create an overwhelming amount of stress, anxiety, grief, depression, etc. that can feel very unmanageable.  Let's start right where you are and make life feel more manageable and meaningful again.

What To Expect:

Our first few sessions will involve an evaluation of your needs.  By the end of the evaluation, I will be able to offer you some first impressions of what our work will include and a treatment plan to follow, if you decide to continue with therapy.  You should evaluate this information along with your own opinions about whether you feel comfortable working with me.  It's important that our relationship feels safe and worthy of holding your story.

Sessions

Following the evaluation and mutual decision to begin treatment, I will typically meet with you on a regular basis (usually weekly or biweekly). Sessions are 50 minutes.
